Mid-week news roundup
Kenneth Walker III practiced in full on Tuesday for the Seahawks. This sets the rookie up well to make his return against San Francisco this week. Walker will be returning to a difficult matchup against the best defense in the NFL, but should be started in season-long fantasy leagues in what is the first week of the playoffs for many.
As was feared but expected, Kyler Murray will be out for the remainder of the season with an ACL tear. He finished the year with 2,368 passing yards, 418 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns. QB Colt McCoy will likely start for the Cardinals the rest of the year.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expects Deebo Samuel to return to action in three weeks after he suffered a sprained MCL and ankle on Sunday. Fantasy managers were hoping that his return would come in Week 17 for the fantasy football championship, but it is possible that the return doesn’t happen until Week 18.
Dameon Pierce is suffering from a high ankle sprain and could miss 1-2 games. With the Texans out of contention, they are likely to play it safe and wait for Pierce to be completely healed up before he returns to the field.
Rookie QB Desmond Ridder will be the Falcons’ starter going forward to end the season. The Falcons are a run-heavy offense, so Ridder might not be fantasy relevant right away, but he is worth keeping an eye on or stashing in dynasty leagues.
