📰 Week 1 news you can use
Key injuries to track and other happenings heading into this weekend.
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins (CIN, WRs) — A real fantasy pickle to start the season. Early this week, we didn’t know if Chase would play, which boded well for Higgins’ fantasy value. Now Higgins (hamstring) is Doubtful, and Chase is likely to suit up, though he is expected to be on a snap count after missing practice time. Chase also has a tough matchup against stud corner Christian Gonzalez. Keep expectations in check for Chase in Week 1.
Christian McCaffrey (SF, RB)—Let’s hope this isn’t a weekly ritual of tracking McCaffrey’s injury status, but we’re off to a bit of a nerve-wracking start for his owners. He’s been limited at practice this week with an Achilles injury. It’s not a new injury; it’s related to his previous calf injury. He should play Monday night, but given the timing, it’s worth having an emergency plan handy.
J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards (LAC, RBs) — The two words every fantasy manager hates to hear: hot hand. Chargers OC Greg Roman uttered them Thursday about his co-starting running backs. Given Dobbins’ injury history, let’s just hope he has hands at all by mid-season, so Edwards seems like the safer bet as the fantasy back you want this season.
