Week 2 news you can use
Typically, no news is good news in fantasy football, but here’s the latest on key injuries to help you plan your lineups this week.
🤕 Don’t let the cheery photo above fool you, Kenneth Gainwell is trending towards being out for the Eagles Thursday night matchup against the Vikings. He led the Eagles backfield in rush attempts and targets on Sunday and looked primed to take advantage of a questionable Vikings defense, but now, D’Andre Swift profiles to be the lead back in Gainwell’s absence.
🏥 Aaron Rodgers is officially out for the 2023 season after an MRI confirmed he suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1. It’s devastating news for Rodgers and Jets fans, but from a fantasy perspective, it also downgrades all NYJ receivers while maybe giving a slight bump to RBs Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook. At QB, Zach Wilson will take over, but he can be ignored in all formats except Superflex and 2-QB leagues.
❌ Diontae Johnson is expected to miss up to 4 weeks because of his hamstring injury. This timeline makes him a candidate for short-term IR, and fantasy managers can look for Allen Robinson II and Calvin Austin III to get more work in the veteran’s extended absence.
🤞 Zack Moss (arm) took part in the Colts' practice session Wednesday. With the Colts' RB situation in complete disarray, the offense certainly needs any help it can get. This is a situation to keep an eye on, as Moss could immediately leap to the team's top RB once he's ready to roll.
👎 After turning in a big performance, Aaron Jones exited Sunday’s win over the Bears early due to a hamstring issue. Now, the veteran running back is missing from Packers’ practice. AJ Dillon will see a significant bump in fantasy value should Jones be forced to sit.
