Week 4's fantasy football rankings
Plus, the latest fantasy news, and mid-week pickups to help you prepare your lineups.
Hey all,
Today is a special day. Our initial Week 4 fantasy football rankings for all scoring formats are available, and you don’t need a password! That is, of course, if you’re a paying subscriber.
I pulled out all the tech tricks I knew to make this happen. Hopefully, there will be no bugs or surprises but if you notice anything quirky going on, let me know. And please do not share the links on social media. Thank you all for your patience on this!
I’ll be back in touch with the full playbook this weekend.
Thank you and be well.
Justin
P.S. — As you may already know, FantasyPros.com rates the accuracy of player rankings submitted by “fantasy football experts” like yours truly. 5th Down’s rankings have traditionally scored well over the years. If you’re wondering how I’m doing through three weeks of 2023, they currently rank 15th out of 192.
Week 4 news you can use
Typically, no news is good news in fantasy football, but here’s the latest on key injuries to help you plan your lineups this week.
Anthony Richardson is still in the NFL’s concussion protocols but will return to practice today. He’s progressing well and the team is optimistic that he’ll be cleared before Sunday. In the off-chance that he’s out, Gardner Minshew II will get the start again in his possible absence.
Saquon Barkley is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that sidelined him for New York’s game in Week 3, but now HC Brian Daboll is telling reporters that the team considers the star RB to be day-to-day. This is very positive news considering the injury he had, but there’s still a chance that he could be limited or less than 100% when he returns.
Zay Jones (knee) is considered a ‘long-shot’ to play in Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. If he’s out, Christian Kirk and Evan Engram will both continue to get more work in his absence against the Falcons.
David Montgomery missed Sunday’s game while nursing a thigh injury he suffered in Week 2, and he’s been able to practice in a limited fashion this week. They have a short turnaround before Thursday’s game, but he is reportedly trending towards playing against the Packers.
Christian Watson was able to log a limited practice session on Tuesday after being estimated as a DNP on Monday, however, and he also told reporters that the plan is for him to play on Thursday night. The team will make a decision closer to game time, but he seems to be trending in the right direction against the Lions.
Aaron Jones has been out for two straight weeks thanks to a lingering hamstring injury he suffered in Week 1, but he’s been able to log a limited practice for each of the last two days and will have a real chance to play on Thursday.

De’Von Achane (RB, MIA) — If you had Achane on your bench like me you felt a big amount of FOMO this week with his 203 yards and 2 TDs on the ground while also adding 4 catches for 30 yards and another 2 TDs. The good news is he finally looked fully healthy for the first time this year and looked as speedy as advertised coming out of Texas A&M.
While the Dolphins backfield is very crowded you want to have every piece of that offense you can get your hands on, especially with Achane’s home run threat. Miami looks to be easily the best offense in football this year making Achane a potential RB2 with upside the rest of the year.
